To chop, or not to chop. Actually — that’s not the question. The question is — where to donate? Here I was, this whole hair-growing-time thinking about the moment when I’d stroll into a salon (in my daydream it’s the one in Amherst, MA where all the girls come out with the most amazing short pixie and boy cuts ever) and wait in monumental anticipation for the sound of a scissor destined to snip away (perhaps in one or two snips) at the strands that have been with me for so long. These tresses have journeyed from Israel, to Massachusetts, to DC and now I’m seriously contemplating their future without, well, me. The answer to this question — there are many places to donate. There’s Wigs for Kids, Pantene Beautiful Lengths campaign and the more well known Locks of Love. But I was amused to learn just a few weeks ago that human hair can be used to clean oil spills a la the gulf-oil-mess and others like it. That’s right, OIL SPILLS!! And people are chopping away in the name of saving the environment. Very, very cool if you ask me. So now there’s one more reason to keep that hair growing, ladies (and gentlemen).
